🫱🏽🫲🏾Connecting with key stakeholders – Aboriginal community members and groups, NGOs, ACCOs, ACCHOs, government agencies, other peak organisations, advocacy bodies and statutory offices
✍🏽 Provided a submission on the Child and Young Person Safety and Support Bill
🗣️ Panel discussions on raising the minimum age of criminal responsibility
🏛️ Provided evidence alongside Catherine Liddle, SNAICC – National Voice for our Children to the Social Development Committee on the potential for a Human Rights Act in SA
📣 Keynote speaker at the Child Protection and Family Support Symposium advocating for Aboriginal self determination and the implementation of the Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People‘s Inquiry recommendations
🎤 Keynote speaker at SNAICC’s Connected Beginnings National Gathering
💭 Joined the Office for Early Childhood Development’s Aboriginal Codesign Governance Group
✔️ We achieved official ACNC and DGR status
🙌🏽 Attended our first community event at Tauondi Aboriginal College Open Day
🎉 Completed our inaugural nomination and voting process for the Wakwakurna Kanyini Council
✈️🚙 Planning regional Aboriginal community engagement for 2025
There’s no slowing down as we approach the end of the year – we’ll be finalising the development of our website and undertaking our Strategic Action Planning Workshop! I can’t wait to share both of these in the new year, as well as some other exciting announcements.
Wakwakurna Kanyini will be heading into 2025 determined, focused and committed to achieving our vision!
